10 Paralympians In Relationships With Elite Athletes
They first met in 2012 during a Youth Sport Trust talent day, where Hannah, fresh off the London Paralympics, was the celebrity guest. Nathan asked for her autograph.
They later reconnected at training and events, and after a year and a half of friendship, he asked her on a date. He proposed to her in 2021 when they were vacationing in Copenhagen after the Tokyo Olympics.
In an article for the Telegraph, Nathan wrote, “Being together has made us both better athletes. The days that Hannah doesn’t want to train, I’ll be saying, ‘Come on, let’s go,’ and she does the same for me. We both have our coaching licenses, so we constantly have a coaching eye on each other and analyze one another’s races. If one of us comes off the track after a bad race and says, ‘I don’t know what happened,’ the other one will be able to say something like, ‘On the third push, you slipped.’ We want to see each other do well. I’m almost more proud of Hannah when she does a good race than I am of myself when I do.”
