12-YEAR-OLD ZOE OLI BECOMES YOUNGEST CEO TO LAUNCH A PRODUCT AT TARGET

In a world where media, literature, and leadership are predominantly shaped by narratives that often exclude or misrepresent people of color, representation has become a vital force for empowerment—especially for Brown and Black girls. To ensure that Brown and Black girls see themselves reflected in their new best friend, 12-year-old Zoe Oli created a toy line that reflects the beauty of Brown and Black skin. In doing so, this beautiful entrepreneur has become the youngest CEO to date to launch a product at Target!

The Atlanta, GA native is the CEO and founder of Beautiful Curly Me, which according to their official website is a brand that features “dolls, books, puzzles, created by a girl, to inspire confidence in other girls!”

Recently, on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Zoe shared that she started her entrepreneurial journey at only six-years-old because she didn’t think that her natural hair was “straight and pretty” like her classmates nor could she find a doll that truly represented her unique coils and curls.

“Representation matters,” Zoe told the EGOT-winner. “Because a doll is a girl’s first best friend and someone they can look up to, it’s so important to see yourself positively reflected in the toys you play with.”

Fast-forward to the summer of 2024 and Zoe added a new history-making title to her impressive resume. Zoe became “the youngest CEO to launch a toy brand at Target,” per a press release at the time.

“Seeing our dolls on the @target shelf for the first time was surreal,” she expressed in an Instagram post. “It was so emotional thinking about the journey over the past 4 years and seeing this dream come to life is amazing. Thank you all so much for your support on our journey!”

Zoe’s history-making moments haven’t stopped at Target. She is also the world’s first youngest Black TEDx speaker, additionally, she is a regular speaker at conferences and schools. Zoe has been both a TIME Magazine and Nickelodeon Kid of the Year finalist.

Wanting to ensure that girls just like her have the opportunity to become entrepreneurs, Zoe has also created a leadership club for girls 8-12 to learn about entrepreneurship and leadership called Confident Girls Lead.

Zoe is unquestionably going to ensure that all young girls, see themselves reflected in stories, role models, and everyday life not just a matter of inclusion; but with identity, pride, and the possibility of their own future successes.
