THIS Bollywood superstar was targeted for rejecting a movie later offered to Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor
Sometimes some actors reject a movie because the script or role doesn’t appeal to them. We have known several big movies that are turned down by actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukone, and others. During the early 2000s, one female superstar was offered a movie but she turned it down. However, the makers started a smear campaign against her.
When Aishwarya was targetted for rejecting a movie
The movie we are talking about is Rishtey. Directed by Indra Kumar, it stars Shilpa Shetty and Karisma Kapoor in the lead roles. Initially, Indra wanted Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to play the role of Komal. However, the actress rejected the offer. Kumar then approached Madhuri Dixit, who also turned down the offer. Eventually, they cast Karisma in the lead role.
As reported by Times Now, a smear campaign was launched against Aishwarya Rai, and she was allegedly called “unprofessional.” The actress defended herself by asking if she has the right to say no to movie offers that she is not happy with. “Or the ones that are not going the way I was made to believe they would? Trying to hurt my career by labelling me unprofessional is unethical,” said Ash.
When Madhuri Dixit was offered the role, she agreed to do the movie. Dixit also had Mansoor Ali Khan’s Akele Hum Akele Tum in her hands at the same time. But she chose Rishtey. However, for reasons unknown, Madhuri opted out of Indra Kumar’s film and was replaced by Karisma. On the other hand, Manisha Koirala was cast in Khan’s movie, which starred Aamir Khan in the lead role.

When Rishtey was released, it didn’t work well at the theatres. It was director Indra Kumar’s third flop in a row after Mann and Aashiq.
