Jill Jacobson death: Falcon Crest and Star Trek: The New Generation star dies at 70

Jill Jacobson has died at the age of 70. 

The film and television actress was best known for her roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation and the famed soap opera Falcon Crest

Jacobson’s death was confirmed to Variety by the star’s friend and publicist, Daniel Harary, who revealed she died after a battle with “a long illness.”‘

The Texas-born actress moved to Los Angeles after graduating from the University of Texas in Austin and began her career.

The titular role of Nurse Sherri in 1977 was her breakout job, portraying a hospital nurse who becomes possessed by an evil spirit and attempts to kill her patients. 

Jacobson went on to star in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Days of Our Lives

A well-established actress, Jacobson was then featured in Hung, Newhart, Castle, Who’s the Boss? And Murphy Brown.

One of Jacobson’s most prominent roles was starring as Erin Jones in Falcon Crest, a recurring role she had for 22 episodes. 

The actor also worked as Larue Wilson in The New Gidget for eight episodes. 

Jacobson’s New Gidget co-star Caryn Richman shared: “Jill’s comic timing was brilliant. And her enthusiasm and love of life made our time together on set joyful,” per Variety.

The star’s other television credits include Crazy Life a Fox, Quantum Leap and Arliss. Her film credits also include Splash, Bad Georgia Road, Forbidden Love and Baby Siter

Variety reports that she made various stage appearances, including performing stand-up comedy routines for audiences at Los Angeles’ The Comedy Store and The Improv. 

Aside from her work in the entertainment industry, Jacobson was also a spokesperson who spent time volunteering for the American Cancer Society.
