Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield Tease Fans Over Potential Trilogy Fight
Boxing fans got a wave of nostalgia recently when Evander Holyfield took to Instagram to stir up talk of a potential trilogy fight with Mike Tyson. The 62-year-old former heavyweight champ, whose last professional bout was over a decade ago, shared a mock fight flyer captioned, “The fans want it 🥊 #unfinishedbusiness.” With their iconic 1990s showdowns etched in boxing history, Holyfield’s post set social media abuzz with speculation.
However, Tyson, now 58, was quick to respond with a twist of warmth and finality. “I love you brother, but the trilogy is our friendship,” he commented. While it seems Tyson has closed the door on any hopes of a third clash in the ring, his words show just how far their relationship has come since their tumultuous past.
The two legends famously fought twice, with Holyfield emerging victorious both times. Their second encounter, dubbed “The Bite Fight” after Tyson infamously bit off a piece of Holyfield’s ear, became one of the most shocking moments in sports history. Despite their heated rivalry, the fighters have since made amends, leaving their dramatic history in the ring behind.
There was a glimmer of hope for a third fight back in 2021, but talks fell apart due to differences in negotiations. Instead, Holyfield returned to the ring for an exhibition bout against Vitor Belfort—a night that left fans yearning for a Tyson-Holyfield showdown that never came to be.
While a trilogy appears unlikely, Tyson isn’t hanging up his gloves entirely. After a highly publicized bout with Jake Paul, Iron Mike hinted at taking on Jake’s brother, Logan Paul.
