YSL’s Yak Gotti Celebrates Dropped Charges in Ongoing RICO Case: “See Y’all by Christmas”
YSL artist Yak Gotti is celebrating a significant victory in the ongoing RICO trial, as three of the charges against him were recently dropped.
On Thursday, the rapper took to Instagram to announce the news, which occurred on his birthday, and share his optimism about his release date.
“Locked in the system, I’m just thankful to be livin, See yall by Christmas, God willing Thanksgiving, 3 Charges dropped, Plus unlimited support, Best birthday wishes,” he wrote in the caption.
The charges that were dismissed were all related to drug possession and intent to distribute. The decision was made after Judge Paige Whitaker ruled in favor of a directed verdict for the counts, meaning the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence.
Despite the progress, Yak’s legal battle is far from over. Judge Whitaker also denied a motion from the rapper’s team to dismiss the other counts, including the RICO charge. Currently, Yak and Shannon Stillwell are the last two YSL members on trial.
Nonetheless, the closing arguments are set to begin on Monday, November 25th, with Yak hoping for a favorable outcome on his remaining charges. Young Thug and several co-defendants recently took plea deals in the trial. Thug pleaded guilty to all charges except for two and ultimately received 15 years of probation and 7.5 years of active reporting.
