Ranbir Kapoor calls Sanjay Leela Bhansali his ‘godfather’, opens up about reuniting with him 17 years after Saawariya
Ranbir Kapoor made his Bollywood debut in 2007 with the movie Saawariya. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film also featured Sonam Kapoor and Rani Mukerji. With his adorable act, Ranbir made a place for himself in the audience’s hearts and has been impressing everyone with back-to-back fantastic performances. However, since then, the actor hasn’t collaborated with SLB for anything else.
Ranbir Kapoor on reuniting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali
Earlier this year, when it was announced that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next film features Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, cinebuffs couldn’t keep calm. After all, who doesn’t want to see two amazing artists come together again? Fans are excited to see the duo reunite for another memorable story after 17 long years. Recently, RK was asked about working with Bhansali again for Love and War and the actor shared his excitement.
At the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, the Rockstar actor was asked about collaborating with SLB again. Ranbir called the Saawariya director his ‘Godfather’ and stated that it is because of Bhansali that he knows everything about movies and acting.
Further in this entertainment news, Ranbir Kapoor said, “He hasn’t changed at all. He is extremely hard-working. All he thinks about is his movies. He just wants to speak about the character; he wants you to create, do something different.” Along with Ranbir, Love and War also stars Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. It is Bhansali’s second film with Alia after the duo delivered the commendable Gangubai Kathiawadi in 2022. The romantic thriller will hit theatres on March 20, 2026.

Along with Bhansali’s next, Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. The actor plays Lord Rama in the mythological saga, which stars Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita. The movie will release in theatres on November 6, 2026.
