BRITTNEY GRINER AND WIFE CHERELLE SHARE FIRST PHOTOS OF THEIR BABY BOY
WNBA superstar Brittney Griner and her wife Cherelle have shared the very first photos of their son Bash Griner.
On Tuesday, Nov. 26, the proud parents posted snapshots on their respective Instagram pages, giving fans a glimpse into their life as a family of three.
In the sweet photos, the tiny tot steals the spotlight in a cute skeleton pajama and a black cap, as Griner and Cherelle dote on him.
“Family shoots have become a team effort. It’s a series of smiles, tears, feedings and naps,” Cherelle told “CBS Mornings.” “We love every second and can’t wait to take our first Christmas pictures as a family.”
Griner and Cherelle announced their pregnancy in April and welcomed Bash on July 8, 2024.
Brittney Griner proudly shared the news in a conversation with CBS Sports ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics.
“That’s my man. He is amazing,” she said. “They said as soon as you see them, everything that you thought mattered just goes out the window. That’s literally what happened.”
She also expressed her bittersweet feelings about leaving for the Olympics, adding, “It kind of sucks because I have to leave, but at the same time, he will understand.”
Griner’s journey to motherhood comes after a challenging chapter in her life. In 2022, she made headlines when she was arrested in Russia after vape cartridges were found in her luggage at a Moscow airport.
While playing basketball in Russia during the WNBA off-season, Griner pleaded guilty and was sentenced to nine years in prison.
She was detained for 10 months, but in December 2022, she was released in a prisoner swap between the U.S. and Russia, with Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout being exchanged for her freedom.
