AR Rahman makes first appearance after announcing divorce from Saira Banu, looks devastated [Watch]

AR Rahman and his ex-wife Saira Banu grabbed a lot of attention after they announced their separation. On November 27, AR Rahman made his first public appearance after the divorce announcement. The Oscar-winning music composer attended the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa for Lata Mangeshkar Memorial Talk: Musical Theatre in India session. AR Rahman looked heartbroken and distressed when he was spotted leaving the auditorium. The music maestro avoided paps on his way. A video was shared by the celebrity paparazzo on their social media page and it was captioned as ‘He doesn’t deserve the way netizens are treating him after his divorce news, Saira Banu stated that AR Rahman is an amazing human being’. A look at AR Rahman’s video

During the session, AR Rahman spoke about his experience of collaborating with Lata Mangeshkar on a song in 2014. He said, ‘She came to Chennai for a song, and we spent some time together. It’s quite difficult to earn her praise because she sets such high standards of perfection. So, while she was there, she was surprised and curious about the small room and what was happening inside’. He further added saying, ‘I recall an incident from 2014. I was working on Kapil Sibbal ji’s album. She wasn’t well, but I waited three months for her to record the songs, which were eventually completed very quickly. However, for this particular song, I think she had some apprehension. She gave a date and flew all the way from LA to record it. But when we reached the studio, she didn’t feel well (laughs) and had to leave. Beyond her talent, her dedication, sacrifice, and the aura she carries inspire us all’.

The 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa commenced on November 20 and has been showcasing 180 international films from 81 countries.

A few days ago, both AR Rahman and Saira announced their separation in a joint statement that read, ‘After many years of marriage, Mrs Saira and her husband AR Rahman have made the difficult decision to separate from each other. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time. Mrs Saira and her husband Mr AR Rahman emphasize that they has taken this decision out of pain and agony. Mrs Saira and her husband Mr AR Rahman request privacy and understanding from the public during this challenging time, as they navigate this difficult chapter in their life’.

Later, AR Rahman penned an emotional note post his separation on his X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, ‘We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter’.
