Dhanush and Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth are now officially divorced after 20 years of marriage
Popular South actor-director Dhanush was happily married to director Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth. Now, the two are officially divorced, as the Chennai family court granted them a divorce on Wednesday, November 27. Dhanush and Aishwarya had been married for 18 years before they decided to part ways due to irreconcilable differences. According to reports, the court’s verdict comes after the couple expressed their inability to stay together.
Dhanush and Aishwaryaa appeared before the family court in Chennai on November 21 and wanted to part ways as they could not stay together. The judge adjourned the hearing to November 27 and the final verdict was out. The couple tied the knot in 2004 in a grand wedding in Chennai and are parents to two sons, Yatra and Linga.
They released a joint statement revealing their decision to part ways and it read, ’18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting, and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate. Aishwaryaa/Dhanush and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this (sic).’
Well, Dhanush and Aishwaryaa continue to co-parent their two kids and are spotted together at their kids’ school functions after their separation. They had filed for divorce after announcing their separation in January 2022, but did not appear for the court hearing three times.
Aishwaryaa is the daughter of Rajinikanth and Latha Rajinikanth and Dhanush is the son of director Kasthuri Raja and Vijayalakshmi.
