“Bel-Air” to End with Fourth and Final Season on Peacock

Peacock’s breakout hit, Bel-Air, the modern-day reimagining of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, will conclude with its upcoming fourth season, Deadline reports. The final season will consist of eight episodes, marking a reduction from the 10-episode seasons that preceded it.

The renewal comes months after the series’ Season 3 finale aired on September 5, following reported behind-the-scenes budget discussions. The delay in announcement stands in contrast to the show’s earlier momentum, with the Season 3 pickup happening before the Season 2 finale aired.

Launched in 2022, Bel-Air was Peacock’s first homegrown success, greenlit with a bold two-season order after Morgan Cooper’s viral four-minute spec trailer breathed new life into the classic ‘90s sitcom. The series reimagines Will Smith’s iconic story with a dramatic twist, offering a deeper exploration of family, class, and identity.

Led by Jabari Banks in the role made famous by Smith, the cast includes Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman, Coco Jones, Olly Sholotan, Akira Akbar, and Jimmy Akingbola. The show also brought in notable guest stars, including original Fresh Prince cast members Tatyana Ali, Joseph Marcell, and Daphne Maxwell Reid, as well as celebrities like Bianca Belair, Saweetie, Andra Day, and Marlon Wayans.

Carla Banks Waddles, who took over as showrunner in Season 2, will lead the series to its conclusion alongside an executive production team that includes Cooper, Will Smith, Quincy Jones, Benny Medina, and the show’s original creators, Andy and Susan Borowitz.

Bel-Air was more than just a nostalgic nod to its predecessor—it became a cultural staple of its own, addressing contemporary social issues while honoring the spirit of the original.

We will miss this masterpiece!
