News4JAX Varsity 4 Super 6 girls soccer rankings

Rank, previous, school, record, classification

1. (1) Ponte Vedra (5-0-1, Class 5A)

Quality wins: Bishop Kenny, Niceville, Stanton, St. Johns Country Day, Tocoi Creek.

Notable: The beat goes on for head coach Dave Silverberg and the Sharks. They handled powerhouse St. Johns (4-0) and Tocoi Creek (3-0) since our last Super 6. They’ve got a tough, tough stretch ahead, visiting unbeaten Chiles on Saturday and then Bishop Moore (Monday) and No. 2 Bartram Trail (Dec. 13). Lily Morse and Izzy Whitaker have combined for 12 goals. The defense has allowed just five.

2. (2) Bartram Trail (5-0-1, Class 6A)

Quality wins: Episcopal, Fletcher, P.K. Yonge, St. Johns CD.

Notable: Defense continues to lead the way. GKs Lily Holden and Megan Waskiewicz have yet to allow a goal in six matches. They travel to unbeaten Chiles on Friday in a heavyweight collision. A week later, they’ve got No. 1 Ponte Vedra. Brooke Gosse and Ali Fletcher have combined for 12 of the team’s 20 goals.

3. (3) Creekside (6-0-1, Class 7A)

Quality wins: Beachside, Edgewood, Oakleaf.

Notable: The Knights, the defending Class 7A state champ, crushed Oakleaf, Mandarin and Fleming Island by a combined 20-0. They tied unbeaten Timber Creek 1-all. Creekside is currently riding a 12-game unbeaten streak dating back to last year’s championship season. Sarah Weisberg, Brooke Godoy and Lily Paisant have led the way on offense with 18 combined goals. In goal, Hailey Smith and Pauline Brownstein have limited teams to just two goals.

4. (4) St. Johns Country Day (4-2, Class 1A)

Quality wins: Niceville, P.K. Yonge.

Notable: Mike Pickett’s team is feeling things out on the offense side of the ball in the early going. Calli Berrang and Reygan Rogero have two goals apiece for the Spartans. They’ve scored just seven as a team but the defense is playing well. They’ll be tested soon, with Fletcher on Thursday followed by four-time defending state champ Lakeland Christian on Saturday.

5. (6) Beachside (5-1, Class 5A)

Quality win: Episcopal, Navarre.

Notable: A 1-0 loss to No. 3 Creekside is the lone blemish for the Barracudas. The beefier part of the schedule begins in mid-December. Peyton Thomas, Bella Duenas and Abbi Cooper are leading Beachside on the attack.

6. (NR) Bishop Kenny (5-1-2, Class 4A)

Quality wins: Bolles, Fernandina Beach.

Notable: A 3-1 win over Bolles and a scoreless draw against No. 2 Bartram highlight Kenny’s recent success. The loss is to No. 1 Ponte Vedra. Reilly Clarke and Emma Baggett have scored 14 of the 24 goals this season for the Crusaders.
