Ticketholders were informed of the cancellation via a statement released by the This Is America singer.

“The upcoming concerts in Australia and New Zealand are cancelled. One of the last things I’d ever want to do is disappoint my fans.”

This was the last tour under his Childish Gambino moniker. He retired the alter-ego after the final album Bando Stone & the New World, which serves as the soundtrack to Glover’s upcoming film of the same name.

The antipodean tour was meant to start at Auckland’s Spark Arena on January 28, followed by Brisbane Entertainment Centre on February 1.

“After being assessed, it became clear I would not perform that night, and after more tests, I could not perform the rest of the US tour in the time asked. As of now I have surgery scheduled and need time out to heal,” he wrote.

“My path to recovery is something I need to confront seriously. With that said, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the North American tour and the UK and European dates.

“I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform. Until then, thanks for love, privacy, and support.”
