Chipotle Plans to Raise its Prices

Chipotle has announced a 2% price increase across its U.S. restaurants, marking its first national hike in over a year.

The move aims to offset inflation and support a promise to ensure “consistent and generous portions” after customer complaints about smaller servings prompted retraining efforts at 10% of its stores.

The price adjustment follows a report from Truist Securities highlighting the increase at 20% of Chipotle’s 3,500 U.S. locations. Truist also noted a rise in customer traffic at the chain in November, signaling resilient demand despite higher prices.

Chipotle has faced rising costs for ingredients like avocados, which saw supply disruptions earlier this year. Restaurant inflation has hit consumers hard, with food-away-from-home prices climbing 30% since 2019, prompting chains like McDonald’s to introduce value-driven options to keep customers dining out.
