Docu-drama captures singer-rapper’s struggle, Salman Khan applauds his craft [Watch]
Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous trailer is out now and the makers have offered a sneak peek into the life of the singer-rapper. The trailer shows the journey of India’s music sensation from humble beginnings in a windowless home to his successful rise in Bollywood.
The trailer also shows the controversial aspect of Honey Singh’s life which delves into the problems he faced due to controversy surrounding his lyrics and a major fall from the rise. The trailer of the documentary was released by Netflix on Tuesday and it has Honey Singh’s journey from rags to riches and then sudden disappearance.
The video shows old footage of Honey Singh in his younger days wherein he used to play a sitar and later his passion made him the top-most musician. Honey Singh revealed that his house has no windows, but it did not stop him from dreaming big. Superstar Salman Khan also makes an appearance in the trailer and was seen giving a special shoutout to the rapper. Salman applauded Honey for his craft and said, ‘Honey has got this one superb thing which nobody else has, which is ‘Yo Yo Honey Singh’ (sic)’.
The trailer also focuses on his his legal woes after being accused of creating vulgar songs, his health struggles and more. The trailer will surely leave all his fans teary-eyed. His parents also make a rare appearance in the trailer and are seen getting emotional as they remember how they reached out to help Honey when he called them.
In a statement, Honey Singh said, ‘For years, there have been countless conjectures about me in the media, and I have never really shared my side of the story. This documentary is the right opportunity to tell my story. My fans have always stood by me, even in my absence, and for that, I am eternally grateful’. He even added saying, ‘This docu-film goes beyond the spotlight to reveal the real me — the highs, the lows, and everything in between. I’m excited to finally share my journey with the world’.
Director Mozez Singh said that Honey gave him unprecedented access into his life and said, ‘The fact that he has trusted me with his story has been a real moment of truth for me, not just as a filmmaker but as a human being too’.
Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, the producers of the documentary said, ‘We are excited to share the untold aspects of the journey of one of India’s most beloved music icons—there’s hardly anyone who hasn’t grooved to at least one of his songs, and now is the time to get to know the real him, unfiltered’.
Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous will premiere on December 20 on Netflix.
