Florence Pugh decided to freeze her eggs following polycystic ovary syndrome and endometriosis diagnosis
Florence Pugh has spoken candidly about being diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis that “completely changed” her life.
The Hollywood star, 28, appeared on the SHE MD podcast this week and said she decided to freeze her eggs to safeguard her dreams of one day having a family, as PCOS and endometriosis can affect fertility.
“My life has completely changed since finding out this information, in a great way, it means I have to be on the ball,” she said on the podcast.

Speaking about the life-changing diagnoses, the Don’t Worry Darling star explained: “I just had this sudden feeling that I should go and get everything checked.
“I’d had a few weird dreams and I think my body was telling me. And I then asked my close friends if they knew any amazing gynecologists.”
She soon was asked if she’d ever undergone an egg count.

“And I was like, ‘No, what do you mean? I’m so young. Why do I need an egg count?'” Pugh recalled thinking.
“It was just so bizarre because my family are baby-making machines. My mum had babies into her 40s, my gran had babies throughout…. she had so many kids as well.
“I just never assumed that I was going to be in any way different.”
The Don’t Worry Darling star said she soon learned she should freeze her eggs. It was “mind-boggling” to hear at just 27 years old, but Pugh’s glad she found out.
“I’m really lucky and glad that I found out when I did because I’ve been wanting kids since I was a child.”

Pugh, who has previously spoken out Hollywood’s unrealistic beauty standards, said it’s important to speak about PCOS and endometriosis to help raise awareness, start conversations and potentially help others.
She previously told Vogue about her stance on beauty standards, saying: “Yes, I can put makeup on and look good for a premiere.
“But at the end of the day. I still have hair on the top of my lip and I still smell after a workout and I still get spots when I’m stressed.”
