‘I BE SCARED TO TAKE HIS GAME [AWAY]’
Keyshia Cole recently opened up about a surprising parenting challenge involving her 14-year-old son, Daniel Gibson jr (aka DJ).
During an Instagram Live, the R&B singer revealed that her son spent 18k on video games over the course of a year.
“I said, What? How do you even do that?” Keyshia said, still sounding incredulous about the hefty gaming expenses
It seems DJ isn’t too worried about keeping up with the latest fashion trends, but has no problem splurging on digital entertainment. “This is the only guy I know that don’t be tripping off the latest shoes or the latest clothes. He just… spends $15,000 on games, though!”
Keyshia learned the full extent of his spending when someone broke the news to her.
“One goddamn time, this [expletive] got the lady coming and told me, ‘You know DJ spent $18,000 this year on games.”
She continued, “How the [expletive] did that slip by me, [expletive]? Cuz now, hold up now, goddamn. I’m like, $18,000?”
Keyshia also admitted that she’s hesitant to confiscate DJ’s gaming consoles because of the extreme reactions some kids have to losing their favorite pastime.
“I be scared to take his goddamn game,” she confessed. “You know these kids be killing people [expletive]! I take it for a little while, and then I’m like, ‘I need to rest well at night.’ These kids be going crazy.”
The gaming expenses might seem wild, but as Keyshia hinted, there’s more to the story. DJ’s spending spree reportedly involved impressing a girl, with Cole noting, “I ain’t gonna say no names, but it was a girl involved, and I know some things were being bought.”
Keyshia shares DJ with her ex-husband, former NBA player Daniel Gibson. She also has a younger son, Tobias, with her ex-boyfriend Niko Khale.
