Jennifer Love Hewitt has addressed speculation of a feud with her I Know What You Did Last Summer co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar amid news of sequel in the works.

When asked by Extra if she knew whether Hewitt would return for the sequel, Gellar responded, “I have nothing to do with that”.
Hewitt has since confirmed she will reprise her role.
During a recent appearance on the I’ve Never Said This Before podcast, Hewitt took the opportunity to shut down all rumours she was “fighting” with Gellar.
“I just heard that there’s this whole thing where they think that Sarah and I were fighting or something. There’s all these things out there,” Hewitt brought up.

The ’90s star said she had been reading what people were saying about the movie, bringing up one person who suggested “Julie made sure that she was killed because girl actresses don’t like to work with girl actresses”.
“I was like, ‘What are you talking about?'” Hewitt said of her response.
The actress pointed out she was 18 when they filmed the first movie.
“They were not taking script notes from me, guys.”
Hewitt made it clear she has nothing but love for Gellar and her husband Freddie Prinze Jr, who also starred in the film 27 years ago.
“I root for her and Freddie and think it’s the cutest thing in the world that they’ve been married for 100 years and have kids,” she said.

The actress concluded it was “really funny to see all this stuff that people think”.
Hewitt is the latest star to join the sequel film, which is currently filming in Australia.
Prinze was previously confirmed to be reprising his role in the sequel alongside newcomers Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Lola Tung, Nicholas Chavez and more.
Prior to Hewitt’s podcast appearance, Gellar had already cleared up her reaction.
Writing on her Instagram story per People, the star said of her response: “When you are excited to see so many old friends in one project but have already stupidly forgotten what NDA means once this month”.

Earlier this month Gellar revealed she got into trouble after posting a photo of a set chair from the sequel before it was officially announced the movie was in production.
Both Gellar and Prinze have been spotted Down Under over the last few weeks while Prinze is working on the sequel.
Some of the other cast members have also been spotted out and about in Australia during filming. Chavez was spotted by a fan in Melbourne while Cline and a few of her co-stars were seen at Olivia Rodrigo’s Sydney concert together.
