According to the second-grader’s mother, who has not been publicly identified, her son was discovered hanging in the school’s bathroom on Friday, November 15th. The distraught woman took to social media to spread awareness about her son’s condition and draw attention to the incident. In her post, she detailed the extent of the child’s injuries, revealing that he’s currently suffering from “marks under his eyes” and “bruises on his neck from being choked.”

“He’s traumatized. It’s going to take time,“ the mom wrote. “This is not something he’s going to just get over overnight.”

Additionally, the school also addressed the horrific situation, referring to it as “horseplaying” gone wrong.

“Two of our students were reportedly horseplaying in a school bathroom when one student’s jacket got caught on a stall door hook,” the school wrote.

The statement continued, explaining that the 7-year-old was unable to free himself, and the other child made an attempt to help but was unsuccessful. As a result, the child reportedly told a staff member, which led to administrators calling the police.

“The student was not able to free themselves, and the other student involved was also not able to help them,” the statement continued. “This student left the bathroom to seek help from staff and reported the incident to administrators. Administrators responded and were able to assist, but staff called 911 for additional precautionary medical support.”

However, the mother’s post painted a different picture. She stated that she received a call from the school regarding her child being sent to the hospital. Once she arrived at the hospital, the woman described seeing her son unconscious, surrounded by a team of doctors.

“My child, who is a 2nd grader, was hung in the boys’ bathroom by a 4th grader,” she wrote. “The principal went into the bathroom and found my baby foaming at the mouth and unconscious.”

She continued, “I walked into the trauma room with 8-10 doctors surrounding my son. This is the most heartbreaking & traumatizing situation my family has ever been in.”

Her post included a photo of the 7-year-old lying on a hospital bed, adding a visual to the unfortunate event. Before ending her statement, the woman showed gratitude for her son still being alive but condemned the situation and highlighted the need for accountability.

“Everything about this is unacceptable nothing about this is ok BULLYING is never ok,” she added. “I’m feeling anger & seeing red, but my son is here by the grace of GOD, and I will forever be thankful. I have so many questions left unanswered. I thank everyone for all the calls, check-ups & prayers.”

As of now, the boy’s family is focused on his recovery but will still seek justice for what they describe as a preventable tragedy.
