Some of the celebrities in the film industry are highly qualified and hold major degrees. Though acting remained their passion, there are celebs who chose to finish their studies and then follow their dreams. But here’s talking about an actress who turned to academics at the age of 43 and obtained a PhD.
She is the one who is known for her films as well as TV shows. She marked her debut at the age of 17 and she was also crowned as the Miss India Universe. After making a name for herself with some good roles, she chose to complete her studies at the age of 43.
The inspiring story of Swaroop Sampat
We are talking about Swaroop Sampat. She has been credited as one of the most versatile actresses in the industry. In 1979, she won the Miss Indian Universe pageant and represent India in the global Miss Universe pageant in the same year. Though she did not win, her achievement opened doors for her in the world of acting. She marked her debut with film Naram Garam in 1981. She then appeared in films like Nakhuda, Sawaal, Himmatwala and more. However, the TV serial Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi that aired in 1984 brought her massive fame. But in 2009, she turned toward academics and pursued PhD in Education. She has received her PhD from University of Worcester. She did thesis on how drama can be used to enhance life skills in children with disabilities. She is now a trainers and conducts workshop for teachers.
However, acting hasn’t completely taken a backseat just yet. In the past few years, she was seen in big films like Uri: The Surgical Strike and The White Tiger. She also played a pivotal role in Ki and Ka. In 2022, she appeared in a TV serial too called Zindagi In Short.
For the unaverse, Swaroop Sampat is wife of Paresh Rawal. Reportedly, it was a love at first sight for him. They got married in the year 1987. They have two sons.
