Mustard Calls Out Fellow Producer Boi1da for Secretly Hating on “Not Like Us”
It looks like Mustard and Canadian producer Boi1da are at odds over Kendrick Lamar’s hit, “Not Like Us.”
Mustard, the mastermind behind Lamar’s megahit, was made aware of Boi1da talking smack about the record in a direct message to someone else. In a screenshot shared by Mustard, Boi1da wrote, “West Coast rap is a**.” When the individual told him that he had to hear “Not Like Us” in a setting that was “outside,” Boi1da wrote, “Nobody outside L.A. wanna hear that s**t.”
Once the screenshots made their way to Mustard’s desk, he called out his fellow music maker, writing, “@Boi1da tell me this ain’t real crodie.” In another Instagram Story post, Mustard put him on blast again, adding, “I thought you was a real one. I ain’t know you felt this way.”
He took things a step further by sharing his own screenshots with Boi1da, who had told Mustard privately that he enjoyed “Not Like Us.” In their messages, Boi1da wrote “Good s**t” and “beat hard AF,” referring to the single.
It’s unknown why Boi1da had such a change of heart regarding “Not Like Us,” However, Boi1da has long been a collaborator of Lamar’s rival, Drake. He produced the 2018 track “God’s Plan” for the Toronto star, which earned both Drizzy and Boi1da a Grammy nod. Additionally, he serves as the in-house producer for the superstar’s OVO Sound imprint.
Boi1da has not publicly commented on Mustard calling him out.
