“National Stay at Home Because You’re Well Day” Gives You Another Reason to Call Off Work on Nov. 30
As if you needed another reason to take a mental health day, November 30th is National Stay at Home Because You’re Well Day.
Created by Thomas and Ruth Roy of Wellcat Holidays & Herbs, the day encourages hardworking Americans to take a day off not because they are sick but because they are feeling their best. This allows them to recuperate from the hustle and bustle of the work week. Say, for instance, Monday was extremely stressful with boatloads of nonstop tasks or Tuesday was packed with meetings. Wednesday could be the perfect day to recoup without having the excuse of being sick.
Furthermore, taking off from work while feeling great allows you to get out and explore during the day. This could give you an opportunity to visit a museum or treat yourself to lunch at a popular restaurant. The best part is that they’ll be less crowded, thanks to most people being at work.
Most companies do not recognize National Stay at Home Because You’re Well Day, as it is mostly a personal choice. However, if you do indulge, take the day for self-care. This could come in the form of the aforementioned activities, a spa day, spending hours on your creative endeavors, or simply staying in bed to do absolutely nothing.
No matter how you choose to spend the day, the goal is to know that you don’t have to wait until you’re sick to take a moment for yourself.
