Rams trade CB Tre’Davious White to Ravens for 7th-round draft pick

The Rams did not let the NFL trade deadline pass without making a deal.

The Rams traded veteran cornerback Tre’Davious White and a 2027 seventh-round draft pick to Baltimore for a 2026 seventh-round pick.

The trade was no surprise. White, 29, started the first four games but was inactive for the last four. A few weeks ago the Rams gave White and his representatives permission to seek a trade.

As coach Sean McVay did for the last few weeks, general manager Les Snead on Tuesday praised White’s professionalism and reiterated the Rams’ desire to find a situation for White where he would have an opportunity.

“We wanted to come up with a win-win,” Snead said during a video conference with reporters. “Obviously, we could have kept him in case of an emergency as an insurance policy.”

The Rams signed White last spring hoping the seventh-year veteran would recover from Achilles surgery and find a role. Then Rams cornerbacks Derion Kendrick and Darious Williams suffered injuries during training camp, which accelerated the need for White to start. His faster-than-expected recovery gave the Rams confidence that White would recapture his All-Pro form.

Yet White appeared to give up several big plays before the Rams re-signed veteran cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon.

The Rams, like all teams, received inquiries from many teams in the leadup to the trade deadline. Snead declined to disclose the players who were discussed. He also was asked if he was satisfied with the roster.

“I don’t think it’s time to really determine, let’s call it, in totality the roster, the strengths, the weaknesses, the super powers and things like that,” Snead said. “I always go, this is a 17-round bout.”

The Rams (4-4), who are riding a three-game winning streak, play the Miami Dolphins on Monday night at SoFi Stadium.

Etc.

The Rams activated offensive lineman Joe Noteboom to the roster from injured reserve. They also cut punter Ryan Sanborn and defensive lineman Jonah Williams from the practice squad, and then re-signed Williams.
