Rod Stewart announces end to large-scale world tours and what he plans to do instead

Rod Stewart is following what his heart desires, making the huge decision to end his large-scale world tours.

The rocker, who will be 80 years old in January, shared the news with fans on social media.

Referring to his 2025 European and North American tour dates, he announced that he will be moving on to another phase of his career.

The message read, “This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me, but I have no desire to retire,” he said.

“I love what I do and I do what I love. I’m fit, have a full head of hair and can run 100 metres in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.”

He shared his more intimate future plans with panicked fans, telling them, “I’d like to move onto a Great American Songbook, Swing Fever tour the year after next – smaller venues and more intimacy. But then again, I may not.”

He signed off on the message as “The ambiguous Sir Rod Stewart.”

Though fans must have been disheartened, they were also full of support for their favourite artist.

“You do you Rod – you have been entertaining us for decades – you deserve all the best things in life,” one said.

“Sir Rod, you have given us so much joy over the years… We are [grateful] and honored to still have you releasing albums and touring. You do what is in your heart, and us fans will follow,” added another.

His celebrity friends also reacted to the news, with broadcaster Piers Morgan commenting that the move was “Brilliant” and TV presenter Davina McCall saying “This sounds perfect”.

Stewart’s European tour will end on May 13 in Lisbon, Portugal, while his final North American tour date will end on August 15 in Missouri.

He will also be headlining a residency in Las Vegas, at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, from March until June next year.
