Silo season two: Tim Robbins on why he’d never consider a career in politics and The Shawshank Redemption 30th anniversary | Interview
Tim Robbins isn’t afraid to speak out on politics across social media, but the Oscar-winner says he isn’t getting into the political arena himself anytime soon.
The actor stars in the sci-fi hit series Silo as Bernard Holland – an almost president-like figure in the dystopian future setting – but Robbins tells 9honey Celebrity it’s not inspiring him to make a career change.
“Oh, God, no!” he says in London, ahead of the launch of season two of the sci-fi hit.

“No. Always a heartbreak – doesn’t matter who the politician is, it’s always a heartbreak.”
The post-apocalyptic AppleTV+ series shows a community clinging to survival in deep underground silos after the outside world becomes too toxic.
As some residents search for the truth about what they’re being told and the strict rules they’re forced to follow, some question authority and power.
Robbins’ co-star, rapper and actor Common, tells 9honey Celebrity the show holds a mirror up to our current society in a bold way.

“I thought that even in season one, when Silo first came out, when I first read it, I was like, ‘Wow, this is reflecting our times’, like in a scary way, in a truthful way and necessary way,” he says in a London hotel room sitting alongside Robbins.
“I was like, ‘I can’t believe they’re doing this’,” Robbins interjects.
“I know, that was exciting,” Common agrees, before continuing.
“So I think season two just continues to dig deeper … the questions and the things that reflect society gets even deeper and makes us, as people say, ‘OK, who are we and what is freedom and what is the truth?'”
Robbins adds that it has us asking: “Who are the heroes?”
Common plays the head of the judicial department, spending many scenes opposite the Academy Award winner, which the rapper says he relished.

One of Robbins’ biggest movies of his career was undoubtedly The Shawshank Redemption, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
While a milestone for the film, the actor tells 9honey Celebrity he doesn’t plan on a special celebration to mark the event because it’s still a part of his everyday life.
“I get reminded of that film pretty regularly, just from being out on the street,” Robbins admits.
“And so it’s been, for me, it’s been a celebration that never stopped.
“It wasn’t marked by anniversaries, it was marked by just its presence in the culture. So I celebrate that film all the time.”
Silo season two is out now on Apple TV+, with new episodes released weekly.
