The Office star Rainn Wilson shows aftermath of his house after it nearly burned down in a mountain fire
The Office star Rainn Wilson has revealed the aftermath of his house after it was almost burned down in a fire last month.
The actor, who also hosts the podcast Soul Boom, shared a video walking through the charred – but still standing – remains of his family home in California.
”Well, this is not something I ever thought I’d be doing,” he began the video posted to his official podcast account on Instagram.

“Walking through the remains of my bedroom and my closet and my bathroom, and there’s my toilet. My charred toilet,” he said, as he showed the damaged rooms of his house in the background.
Wilson revealed his office has similarly been charred from the fire.
“There’s some kind of valuable lesson here,” the actor reflected, admitting he was “not sure what it is” yet.
“Kind of death and fire teaches you a lesson about the impermanence of life and the preciousness of what we have,” he said, urging his followers to “stay grateful today”.
Wilson continued candidly: “It’s all a little much for me. I walk into this zone, I get so overwhelmed, my brain just goes offline.”
The actor said he “can barely process it”.

Wilson finished off by pointing out most of the house was intact and they had managed to keep a lot of trees around the property.
Wilson’s recent update comes one month after he first shared that his house was “very severely damaged” in a mountain fire in California’s Ventura County.
The star posted a video message to his personal Instagram account in November with photos from the devastating fire.
“Our house almost burned down,” he began the video.

Wilson acknowledged he and his family were lucky after 130 homes, including a couple of their neighbours’, did not make it.
He praised his wife Holiday Reinhorn for helping to evacuate all their animals at home.
The actor then shared some video footage he took from the house after the fire. At one point he showed a charred framed photograph of him and The Office cast sitting on a shelf.

He also found charred bobblehead figures of his character Dwight outside.
While walking through, Wilson said it was ”very scary” but “could have been so much worse”.
“It hits hard when it’s your place,” he said.
The actor is best known for his role as Dwight Schrute on the US sitcom The Office.
Wilson starred in the hit series from 2005 for nine seasons.
He has also been in films like The Rocker, The Meg, Juno and Jerry and Marge Go Large.
