The Wanted’s Max George reveals he’ll be spending Christmas in hospital due to heart issues: ‘Very lucky that this was caught when it was’
The Wanted star Max George has revealed a terrifying health scare – he has been hospitalised before Christmas due to heart issues.
The British singer, 36, shared an update with fans, revealing it was a “huge shock” and said he recently “felt really unwell” before going to hospital.
Giving the thumbs-up from his hospital bed, the singer said he will be forced to spend Christmas in hospital as he rests up and says he feels “lucky” doctors caught the issue when they did.

“Yesterday I felt really unwell and was taken in to hospital. Unfortunately after some tests they’ve found that I have some issues with my heart,” his post began.
“I have a lot more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet. It’s gonna be a difficult few weeks / months… and Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned!”
He went on to say his partner Maisie and their family are by his side.
“I’m 100 per cent in the best place.”

Bandmate Siva Kaneswaran commented underneath: “Here for you brother. Rest up and get well soon.”
Siva and George are part of boy band The Wanted, known for hits including Glad You Came, which also included Jay McGuiness, Nathan Sykes and late star Tom Parker.
In March 2022, Parker died of brain cancer at the age of 33.
In October 2020, he was diagnosed with stage-four glioblastoma.
His wife Kelsey said at the time of his death: “Our hearts are broken, Tom was the centre of our world and we can’t imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence.”
“We are truly thankful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we all unite to ensure Tom’s light continues to shine for his beautiful children.’’
In March, George shared a tribute to Parker to mark the two-year anniversary of his death, alongside old pictures and video of the pair together.
“Two years without you my brother. Still doesn’t feel real. Found these today… our last sleepover. I’ll cherish it forever 🖤🤘🏻.”
In 2020, when Parker shared the news of his tumour diagnosis, he wrote in an Instagram post: “We are all absolutely devastated but we are gonna fight this all the way.”
“We don’t want your sadness, we just want love and positivity and together we will raise awareness of this terrible disease and look for all available treatment options.”
