What’s the Truth Behind the Alleged ‘African American Detected’ Label on TikTok?

Some TikTok users have raised concerns, alleging their videos were flagged with a label reading “African American detected.” The claims quickly gained attention, with users in the comments questioning TikTok’s practices and fairness.

One video, shared by @reina_amada_86, showed a greenscreen screengrab of the alleged label, while another from @benjamin.magrdichian featured a user reading a notification claiming their live stream was “restricted due to being African American.” These posts sparked discussions about TikTok’s content moderation processes.

Baller Alert reached out to TikTok for clarification. We were informed that the label in question does not exist and is not applied to user videos. Additionally, several of the videos were removed for violating Community Guidelines.

While TikTok has refuted the claims, the discussion highlights ongoing concerns from some users about the platform’s moderation practices. Black creators, in particular, have previously expressed frustration about visibility and perceived disparities in content enforcement.
