So where did this brilliant idea come from? Turns out it’s been years in the making!

Speaking to Jimmy, Whoopi said she had always wanted to play sports as a child but was often overlooked – because she was a girl.

“My brother could play. He played baseball, he played softball, he played basketball, he played everything. And they would say, ‘Oh, hi little girl’,” Whoopi shared, patting herself on the head to demonstrate the years of belittling she experienced.

Whoopi added that she hopes the channel will help change society’s relationship with women’s sports.

In the meantime, you can catch Whoopi on Broadway. She’s starring as Miss Hannigan in the musical Annie!
